Baker, Hill named All-MW by select MW media panel

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Fresno State's Jemarl Baker, Jr., and Isaiah Hill were named All-Mountain West honorable mention by a select panel of journalists from each of the league's 11 media markets, the panel announced on Monday.

Baker closed out the 2022-23 regular season with a performance for the record books in Saturday's 108-72 win over the Chicago State Cougars.

In the 36-point win, Baker tied a program record for most points in a regulation game (43) and tied or broke multiple Save Mart Center individual single-game arena records (points: 43, field goal percentage: 92.9 percent [13-14], 3-point field goals made: 10 and 3-point field goal percentage: 90.9 [10-11]).

For the season, Baker averaged 12.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Hill had scored a career-high 28 points in the Bulldogs' 76-63 win over UNLV and earned his first career double-double (13 points/10 rebounds) in the record-setting rout of Cougars.

Hill finished the regular season by averaging 12.2 points, 4.0 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

Voting was conducted independent of Mountain West conference oversight by select media directly covering teams in all 11 league markets.

The conference's official All-MW teams, as voted on by the league's head coaches, will be announced later this week from Las Vegas.

Fresno State opens the 2023 MW Men's Basketball Championships in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday at 11 a.m. PT when the Bulldogs face the Colorado State Rams in the first round.
