West earns All-MW honorable mention

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – One of the top scorers in the Mountain West this season, Fresno State's Amaya West earned All-Mountain West honorable mention on Sunday morning. It is the first conference postseason honor of her career.

Playing an expanded role in her first year with the Bulldogs, the fifth-year senior was one of two players along with UNLV's Desi-Rae Young to rank in the Top 11 in the MW in both scoring (14.4) and rebounding (5.8) during the 18-game conference season. West ranked fourth in scoring and 11th in rebounding. One of the Bulldogs' top defenders, West averaged just aover a steal per game.

The Mesa, Ariz. product recorded a team-high 13 double figure scoring games in conference play and 20 for the season. She finished the year with four 20-point games, the first four of her career. On Feb. 25, West poured in a career-high 25 points at San Jose State.

This season, West leads the MW in free throw percentage at 86.7 percent, knocking down 98-of-113 in 31 games.
