FULLERTON, Calif. – Fresno State closed out the 2023 Judi Garman Classic, falling to Seattle 9-4 on Saturday.
Fresno State was outhit 12-9 on the day. Alesia Denby, Kennedy Bunker and Jamie Hicks recorded two hits apiece against Seattle. Four pitchers saw time in the circle for the Bulldogs, combining for 6 strikeouts.
On the weekend, Bunker had a good tournament at the plate for the 'Dogs with a .455 average (5-for-11) with one extra-base hit and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Seattle took an early lead with a three-run home run in the first inning. Fresno State responded in the bottom of the frame after Kennedy Bunker hit a two-out single to make it a 3-1 game.
The Redhawks extended their lead with a solo shot to open the third inning. Seattle tacked on one run in the fourth and fifth innings, before exploding for four runs in the sixth.
The Bulldogs rallied in the bottom of the sixth, plating two runs on three hits. Denby belted her fifth home run of the season to score the final run of the game in the seventh inning.

Fresno State will travel to Pacific on Wednesday, March 8, before hosting the Bulldog Classic March 9-12 at Margie Wright Diamond.
