BULLDOG BONES

Fresno State opens Golden Coast Conference play this weekend traveling to California Baptist and No. 23 San Diego State.

The Bulldogs rank No. 8 in this week's CWPA rankings.

The 'Dogs will are coming off back-to-back GCC regular season and tournament championships in 2021 and 2022.

Senior Jillian Schultz was named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 23 after tallying 10 goals in the 'Dogs three matches at the Fresno State Invite on Feb. 18-19.

Senior Brooke Ochoa leads the Bulldogs with 32 goals with freshman Hailey Andress adding 25 and Schultz & Daphne Guevremont each chipping in 22.

The Bulldogs bring back 11 returners and welcome eight newcomers this season.

A LOOK BACK AT THE FRESNO STATE INVITE

Fresno State is coming off a 3-0 showing at the Fresno State Invite.

The 'Dogs defeated Biola, 14-8, Fresno Pacific, 17-2 and Claremont Mudd-Scripps, 16-7 to improve to 7-7 on the season.

Fresno State scored 47 goals in three matches getting a team-high 10 from Schultz and eight from Ochoa.

In goal, Paula Nieto Jasny made four saves against Biola, 10 against Fresno Pacific and the trio of Nieto Jasny, Kelly Villanueva and Abigayle Armstrong each made three saves versus Claremont Mudd-Scripps.

The Bulldogs moved to 3-4 at home on the season.

'DOGS RANK NO. 8 IN CWPA POLL

The Bulldogs sit No. 8 in the latest CWPA rankings released on Wednesday moving up a pair of spots from the latest poll.

SCHULTZ NAMED GCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior Jillian Schultz was named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 23 after leading the 'Dogs with 10 goals at the Fresno State Invite, including four against Claremont Mudd-Scripps.

On the season, Schultz is tied for third on the team with 22 goals and has drawn a team-leading 30 exclusions.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA BAPTIST

California Baptist enters Friday's contest with a 13-10 overall record.

The Lancers are 2-3 at home with wins over Cal State Fullerton and Redlands.

CBU is coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Tina Finali Invite hosted by Cal Lutheran defeating Occidental, Toronto, Cal Lutheran and Fullerton.

California Baptist has already matched its 2022 win total after going 13-17 last season while going 0-7 in GCC play.

SCOUTING NO. 23 SAN DIEGO STATE

San Diego State enters Saturday's game against the 'Dogs with a 3-9 record and rank No. 23 in the latest CWPA national rankings.

The Aztecs will play their home opener on Saturday after playing all 12 games this season at a neutral site.

SDSU has wins over Fullerton, Pomona-Pitzer and CSUN.

The Aztecs went 13-17 last season with a 4-3 mark in GCC to finish fourth in the conference.
