ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Fresno State men's basketball team wrapped up Mountain West play on Tuesday evening with a 94-80 road loss to the New Mexico Lobos at The Pit.
Fresno State (10-19, 6-12 Mountain West) saw four Bulldogs finish with double figures with Jemarl Baker leading the team with 16 points.
Eduardo Andre added 12 points off the bench while Anthony Holland and Jordan Campbell each chipped in 10 points.
New Mexico (21-9, 8-9 MW) was led by 25 points from Morris Udeze and four other Lobos finished with double figures.
How It Happened
The 'Dogs jumped out to a 12-11 lead after a jumper from Isaiah Hill, but a 7-0 run for the Lobos gave New Mexico a six-point lead.
A jumper from Destin Whitaker with 3:58 to play in the opening half got the 'Dogs within a pair at 40-38, but the Lobos took an eight-point lead to the break leading 50-42.
The Lobos got the second half underway with a 12-5 run to take a 62-47 lead, but the 'Dogs used a 13-2 run to climb their way back to within four at 64-60 after a jumper by Holland with 12:02 to play.
The Lobos answered back with a 20-6 run to take a 84-66 lead as the 'Dogs could not climb back within 14 the rest of the way.
Notes
Fresno State now leads its all-time series with New Mexico 21-18 (overall), which includes three true road wins over the Lobos at The Pit (2016, 2019 and 2022).
Fresno State has won seven of the last eight meetings between the programs (9-2 in Hutson's tenure).
The 50 points allowed in the first half were the most points allowed by the Bulldogs in an opening half since allowing Boise State to score 51 points in the first half on Jan. 9, 2016.
The 'Dogs dished out a season-high 17 assists.
This is the first time that Fresno State has allowed an opponent to score 90 points in Hutson's tenure (most points allowed in regulation since a 102-92 loss at Nevada on Jan. 31, 2018).
Since joining the Mountain West in 2012, Fresno State has won the 2016 conference tournament championship and finished as high as second in the regular season.
In its 11 MW campaigns, Fresno State has won 102 conference games (9.3 MW wins per season) – twice going 13-5 against MW opponents, including Hutson's first season at Fresno State during the 2018-19 season.
In Hutson's tenure, Fresno State has won 43 MW games (8.6 per season).
Through the first 29 games of the season, Fresno State has had 11 of its 13 scholarship players miss at least one game for a non-coach's decision and have combined to miss 98 games throughout the 2022-23 season.

"They came to play, and so did we. We answered with a couple punches ourselves and even with Eduardo Andre getting in foul trouble, we stayed in it. What did we do, we cut it to (a possession) in the second half right out of halftime. We just couldn't sustain. We couldn't win our individual matchups, we just couldn't hang with them."
