FRESNO, Calif. - The Diamond 'Dogs fell 1-0 to Nebraska Omaha on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their four-game series against the Mavericks at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
Fresno State (4-3) was held to three hits in the contest with a pair from Tyler Davis and a triple from Tommy Hopfe.
On the mound, right-hander Roman Angelo was the tough-luck loser tossing five innings allowing only three hits, one earned run, walked a pair and struck out four.
Jack Anker, Robbie Peters and Victor Arreola combined to throw four shutout innings in relief allowing two hits and striking out four.
How It Happened
Scoreless through the first four innings, the Mavericks scored the game's lone run in the fifth with a two-out solo home run by Zach Lechnir.
Looking to extend their lead, UNO loaded the bases with a single and a pair of walks, but Angelo was able to get a strikeout of Henry Zipay to limit the damage.
Only two more Bulldogs would reach base over the final five innings as the 'Dogs were shut out for the first time since Feb. 26, 2022 against then-No. 22 San Diego.
Up next
The Bulldogs close out the month on February of Tuesday hosting San Francisco (3-1) at 6:05 p.m. for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night.
