COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Six Bulldog swimmers, one diver and three relay teams earned All-Mountain West honors at the 2023 Mountain West Championships last week.
Helping lead Fresno State to a fifth-place finish as a team, tying for the best mark as members of the Mountain West, seven 'Dogs collected 12 honors led by senior Athena Clayson taking third in the 200 Back and fifth in the 100 Back.
Senior diver Silvia Alessio placed seventh in both the 3 Meter and Platform while fellow senior Mackenzie Hutler finished sixth in the 200 Fly and seventh in the 50 Free.
Junior Samarah Melia earned a pair of All-Mountain West honors in both the 200 Free and 100 Free placing seventh in both events. Sophomores Sera Hanagan garnered All-MW honors in the 400 IM and Wiktoria Dabrowska placed eighth in the 100 Free.
Freshman Aliz Kalmar, a midseason addition to the Bulldogs, placed third in the 200 Breast and fifth in the 100 Breast to round out the 'Dogs selections.
On the relay side, for the first time as members of the Mountain West, the 'Dogs had a relay team earn All-MW honors with a trio earning the nod with three runner-up finishes.
Led by the 200 Free relay team of Hutler, Eleonora Trentin, Melia and Dabrowska, the 'Dogs also got runner-up finishes from the 400 Medley relay team of Clayson, Kalmar, Hutler and Julia Matney as well as the 400 Free relay team of Clayson, Trentin, Melia and Dabrowska. All three relay teams set new program records.
