FRESNO, Calif – In a tune-up for the outdoor season, the Fresno State track and field team was in competition on Saturday at the Sunbird Invitational. The Bulldogs posted four event wins and 13 Top-3 results.
Morgan Johnson paced the squad across town with wins in the discus and shot put while finishing third in the hammer.
In her first competition representing the Bulldogs after redshirting the 2022 season, Chloe Wood won the javelin with a mark of 43.36m/142-3.
Bronson Ortleib grabbed the lone win for the men's team in the long jump. The freshman scored a best mark of 6.77m/22-02.5.
In the throws on the men's side, Isaiah Calvin turned in a pair of Top 3's. Third in the discus at 42.60m/139-09, the junior placed second in the javelin with a toss of 52.66m/172-09. Teammate Garrett Ostrinski was third with a mark of 52.12m/171-00.
On the track, the women picked up third place finishes from Chloe Sharp in the 400 meters (55.99) and De'ja Hudson in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.17).
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Meinkaikay Kaye finished third with a time of 58.08. Kaye joined his teammates in the 4x400 relay to earn another third-place result (3:25.76).
Back on the track for the first time since 2021, Juanathan Reyes clocked a time of 8:30.85 in the 3,000 meters.
