Notes
The Bulldogs head into their opening tournament of the spring, traveling to Hawai'i for the 46th annual John Burns Intercollegiate.
The Bulldogs' top performance of the fall at the Nick Watney Invitational, shooting 22-under par (277-279-274—830) during the two-day event.
Closing out the fall, Matthew Manganello earned the program's 31st individual tournament win for the program during the last 25 years, shooting a 7-under 206 at the Saint Mary's Invitational at Poppy Hills Golf Club.
The win in Pebble Beach was the Bulldog's second Top 5 finish during the final month of the fall, the first two of his career, after tying for fifth at the Visit Stockton Invitational. During that tournament, Manganello posted a career-low 8-under par 205.
Matthew Sutherland earned Top 5 finishes at the first three tournaments during the fall, finishing with an 11-under par at the Nick Watney Invitational (4th) a 9-under par at the Wolf Pack Classic (4th) and then a 8-under par at the Stockton Invitational (5th).
Sutherland is ranked No. 50 in the nation according to GolfStat while Manganello is No. 107.
In his first tournament as a Bulldog, Utah transfer Joseph Lloyd finished two spots back of Sutherland. The sophomore was consistent, shooting in the 60s each round while posting an 8-under par 205 (69-68-68).
Last month, the sophomore finished second after falling into a playoff at the inaugural amateur tournament, The Thunderbolt in Surprise, Ariz.
The year's roster is a mix of four returners (Jake Bettencourt, Andrew Lee, Matthew Manganello, Matthew Sutherland), two transfers (Joseph Lloyd, Ryan Mendez) and two true freshmen (Jake Aberle, Jaden Hunter).
Youth is something the Bulldogs have plenty of with no seniors on the roster. Lee, Manganello and Sutherland are the oldest 'Dogs but still have two seasons to play.
Bettencourt and Sutherland entered the year having competed in this past summer's U.S. Amateur. For Sutherland, it was his second straight appearance in the tournament.
