The Breakdown
Fresno State heads to the 2023 Mountain West Championships on Wednesday through Saturday in Houston, Texas hosted at the CRWC Nataorium.
Senior Athena Clayson is a five-time Mountain West champion winning three titles in the 200 Back (2020, '21, '22) and two in the 100 Back (2020, '21).
Bulldog Bones
The 'Dogs wrapped up the regular season with a 172-117 dual win over San Jose State on Senior Day on Jan. 28.
Fresno State went 4-3 in dual action this season with wins over Pacific, Fresno Pacific, Pepperdine & San Jose State.
The Bulldogs finished sixth at the 2022 Mountain West Championships scoring 691.5 pts.
Fresno State's best finish at the MW Championships came in 2019 where they took fifth with 781.5 points.

'Dogs last time out
Behind 11 event wins, the Fresno State swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season on Jan. 28 with a 172-117 dual meet victory over San Jose State on Senior Day at the Aquatics Center.
Honoring the 'Dogs seven seniors prior to the meet, the Bulldogs earned a pair of first-place finishes from seniors Athena Clayson (100 Back, 200 Back), Silvia Alessio (1 Meter, 3 Meter Diving) & Mackenzie Hutler (100, 200 Fly).
Sophomore Madison Caserio notched a pair of wins in the 100 Free & 1000 Free, Aliz Kalmar won the 200 Breast, Samarah Melia won the 200 Free and the 200 medley relay team of Clayson, Kalmar, Hutler & Melia clocked a season-best time of 1:42.06.

The Bulldogs will be competing at their 11th Mountain West Championships with their best finish coming in 2019 placing fifth.

'Dogs enter MW Championships with seven top five times
Athena Clayson has the second-fastest time in the 200 Back trailing only Alex Roberts of San Diego State.
Wiktoria Dabrowska (200 Free) and Eleonora Trentin (50 Free) are third in their respective events while Clayson checks in fourth in the 100 Back & 200 IM.
The 200 Medley relay and 800 Free relay teams each have the fifth-fastest times in their respective events.
