LOOKING BACK TO DECEMBER
Fresno State opened the indoor season last month at the Spokane Invitational, earning wins in both the weight throw and shot put. Cierra Jackson won the weight with a mark of 17.61m/57-9.5 while transfer Jordan Bryant captured the win in the shot with a toss of 14.61m/47-11.25. The Bulldogs also placed second in 4x400 (3:47.16) relay and went 2-5 in the 200 meters with Ceonn Pipion finishing runner-up (24.51).
RETURNING SCORERS IN 2023
Fresno didn't lose much in the offseason. In fact, from its 2022 Mountain West Indoor Championships' team that finished fifth, just one scorer is gone. Cierra Jackson and Amelia DiPaola who both finished in the top six in the weight throw and shot put return. Madison Hutton is back for the pentathlon. Hutton along with Haley Abirached picked up points in the jumps. Ceonna Pipion returns in the sprints.
In total, Fresno State returned 33 of its 36 points.
Jackson scored a team-high 13 in her first indoor championship meet.
SITTING IN THE TOP 5
Sophomores Madison Hutton and Cierra Jackson come into this season already owning spots in Fresno State's indoor record book. While Hutton is second in the pentathlon and fourth in the long jump, Jackson ranks fourth in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put. Joining Hutton in the pentathlon is Kaja Bins who ranks fifth. Haley Abirached also holds the program's fifth-best mark in the triple jump.
