FRESNO, Calif. – Leading after 15 minutes, Fresno State was outscored 49-30 the remainder of the game, falling to UNLV 64-49 on Thursday night at the Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs were outshot 58.8-25.8 percent during the final 25 minutes.
Amaya West led the 'Dogs with 11 points and Amiee Book chipped in 10. The Lady Rebels got a combined 45 points from Desi-Rae Young (25) and Justice Ethridge (20).
How It Happened
Fresno State started strong, knocking down three of its first five shots while UNLV opened 1-of-9. Leading for nearly eight minutes, Justice Ethridge's first of three 3-pointers in the second quarter handed the visitors a 12-10 lead with 7:41 to go in the half. A layup on the break from Amiee Book tied the game but Ethridge countered from deep. Capped by a 3 at the top of the key from Daylee Dunn, the Bulldogs rattled off seven unanswered to take a 19-15 advantage with 5:09 on the clock. Fresno State missed its final seven shots of the period as UNLV went on a 10-0 run to lead by six at the half.
The Bulldogs fought back early in the third, knotting the game up at 27-all less than three minutes in following an and-1 from Yanina Todorova. But just like the second quarter, a stretch of seven missed shots turned into the Lady Rebels' second 10-0 run of the night. While 3-pointers late in the third and early in the fourth got the deficit into single digits, UNLV shot 57.1 percent in the fourth to extend their lead to as much as 18 with 2:15 to play.

Fresno State dropped its first game of the season when leading by more than two points after the first quarter.
The Bulldogs shot a season-low 29.3 percent from the field.
Fresno State allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent for just the second time this year.
The 'Dogs had a season-low four turnovers, their first game this season with single-digit turnovers. It was the second-lowest single-game turnover total in program history.
Amaya West recorded her 10th double figure scoring game with 11 points.
With 10 points, Amiee Book recorded her sixth double figure scoring game.
