COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State senior quarterback Jake Haener has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. This honor marks the second time since his return from injury that Haener has been named the MW Offensive Player of the week, and the third time in his career.
Haener passed for 361 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions in Saturday night's 41-14 win at Nevada, clinching the West Division title for Fresno State and securing its spot in the 2022 Mountain West Championship Game. Haener completed 29-of-42 pass attempts.
The senior quarterback added two rushing touchdowns of his own in the win, his first rushing scores of the season and tying his career-high.
His two passing touchdowns in the game extended his streak to 26-straight games played with a passing touchdown to tie the Mountain West record. He sits atop the record book with Derek Carr and former Nevada quarterback Carson Strong.
Haener passed for his 18th career, and fourth-straight, 300-yard passing game with 361 yards last weekend. In Mountain West history, 18 career 300-yard passing games sits third all-time behind 21 from Brett Rypien (Boise State, 2015-18) and 20 from Max Hall (BYU, 2007-09). Four consecutive 300-yard passing games ties Haener's longest streak as a Bulldog.
