BULLDOG BONES
It has felt like everything was against the Bulldogs this season, and the team was constantly fighting and finding a way to win. It has paid off as the Bulldogs opened the season 1-4, and have since won three-straight games to even the record a 4-4 on the season.
Fresno State's win against San Diego State was a big one for more than just a trophy. It also keeps all hopes alive for the Bulldogs to represent the West Division at the Mountain West Championship. Fresno State has defeated two key West Division opponents in San Jose State (Oct. 15) and San Diego State (Oct. 22).
Fresno State scored 15 points in just 13 seconds of game time with a 3-yard touchdown run followed by a successful 2-point conversion, then a recovered onside kick, then a 37-yard touchdown pass followed by a PAT. The quickness of the Bulldogs' efforts were just three seconds shy of the NCAA record for fastest time to score 15 points by one team in a game.
For the first time since Sept. 17, Fresno State played a football game with senior captains Jake Haener (QB) and Evan Williams (DB), and senior wide receiver Josh Kelly last week.
Fresno State senior quarterback Jake Haener has been named a Manning Award Star of the Week, The Manning Award (sponsored by AllState), announced on Monday morning. Haener was one of eight quarterbacks honored this week.
WR Jalen Moreno-Cropper is one of 20 players from around the FBS to have active streaks of more than 25 games with a reception. Moreno-Cropper has caught a pass in 31-straight games, a streak that is third all-time in Fresno State history, having passed Jamire Jordan (2015-17), Davante Adams (2012-13) and Jalen Saunders (2010-11) who sat at 26 games with a reception.
RB Jordan Mims has found himself among Fresno State's best when it comes to running backs and all-purpose players. Mims currently sits 8th in career rushing yards (2,597). Mims also works in the receiving game, moving up the ranks in receiving stats by a RB - pass receptions (83 - fifth most), receiving yards (930 - third most) and receiving TDs (8 - third most).
Last weekend saw two Fresno State receivers with 10 catches in the game and that was Nikko Remigio and Zane Pope.
In addition to the catches, both Remigio and Pope had over 100 yards receiving. Pope had a team-high 143 yards and Remigio added 126 of his own. It was the first time Fresno State had two 100-yard receivers in a game since Jalen Cropper (108) and Keric Wheatfall (115) against UNLV in 2021.
On the Bulldogs' roster, Fresno State got a transfer from Hawai'i in Cam Lockridge this summer. Lockridge, who played junior college football at Reedley College in the Central Valley before playing at Hawai'i, spent two seasons (2020, 2021) with the Rainbow Warriors.
The Bulldogs have two players on their roster this season that call the state of Hawai'i home - center Bula Schmidt (Wahiawa) and defensive lineman John Sniffen (Waimanalo).
