Eight earn All-MW honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following last week's Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Champions eight Bulldogs were awarded with All-Mountain West honors in four events. The all-conference team is composed of the top-three finishers in each individual event and the top three relay teams at the MW championships.

Along with MW champions Rhiannon Genilla and Nadia Maffo, Amelia DiPaola, Cierra Jackson and the team's 4x100 relay team comprised of Nakyia Buckner, Queen Okah, Ceonna Pipion and Antoinette Stubbfield earned All-MW after third-place finishes. It was the first outdoor honor for each Bulldog.

Both competing in their first seasons for Fresno State, Genilla and Maffo did what was expected of them at the championships after heading into the meet at the top of the conference in their respective events. Maffo claimed the hammer title on Friday by more than nine feet with a mark of 63.66m/208-10. A day later, it took Genilla just one throw to win the Bulldogs' fourth gold in the javelin in the last five years, doing so with mark of 46.1m/151-6.

DiPaola captured her first All-MW accolade after earning a trip to the podium in the hammer with a PR of 60.62m/198-10 on her fifth attempt. That evening, Jackson placed third in the shot put after landing a toss of 15.52m/50-11 to earn her second All-MW honor of 2022.

The Bulldogs' 4x100 relay earned the program's second-highest finish at a MW championship, and best since 2016.
