Fresno State rallies for 13-7 win

Fresno State scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the road win in Reno.

RENO, Nev. – The Fresno State softball team defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack 13-7 on Saturday afternoon at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park.

Fresno State (18-33, 9-11 Mountain West) scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the road win in game two of a three-game Mountain West series in Reno.

Slesia Denby went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two doubles and a total of five RBIs in the contest.  Taryn Irigoyen also had three hits (3-for-4) and added two RBIs and a run scored.

Denby and Irigoyen headlined a group of five Bulldogs with multiple hits as Abby Doughty, Vanessa M. Hernandez and Avery Lawley each also had a pair of hits.

How it happened: Fresno State scored two runs in the first and added three more in the fifth, one in the sixth and then seven in the seventh.

The Bulldogs were trailing 7-6 entering the final frame before putting up the seven-spot to create some separation and pull away.

In the circle, Casey Dixon got the start, followed by Marley Hanlon and then Cassidy West, who notched her ninth victory of the season in 2.2 innings of work with four strikeouts.

Next up: With the series even at 1-1, Fresno State and Nevada will meet again in Reno on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT.
