Dead Cat Receives Voter Registration Application in the Mail

A cat in Atlanta just received a voter registration application in the mail...

TWELVE YEARS after it died.

Resident Carol Tims says she found the application, addressed to "Cody Tims," in her mailbox last Wednesday. Cody was the name of her family's long-dead cat.

"A great cat, indoor and outdoor, loved his family, loved his neighborhood," Tims said. "He was 18 and a half when he passed away."

The Tims family said Cody truly was considered a member of their family, however he never voted in an election -- at least to their knowledge...

"If they’re trying to register cats, I’m not sure who else they’re trying to register," she said. "I’m not sure if they’re trying to register dogs, mice, snakes."

The Secretary of State's Office in Georgia later confirmed that Cody's voter application did not come from them.

In a released statement they added that third-party groups sometimes get access to mailing lists with resident names and addresses:

"Third-party groups all over the country are targeting Georgia to help register qualified individuals. This group makes you wonder what these out-of-town activists are really doing. Make no mistake about it, this office is dedicated to investigating all types of fraud."
