Dallas Cop Who Killed Neighbor Has Been Fired

Amber Guyger

The Dallas Police Department announced that it has fired the police officer who shot and killed her neighbor after she mistook his apartment for her own. Amber Guyger was terminated following an internal affairs investigation which found that she "engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for Manslaughter."

On September 6th, Guyger returned home from a 15-hour shift but she tried to enter the wrong apartment. Instead of entering her own unit, she tried to enter the home of Botham Jean, who lived one floor above her. She claims she thought her home was being burglarized and opened fire, killing Jean

Guyger does have the right to appeal her firing under civil service rules.
