Bulldogs outplay Broncos on Saturday afternoon

RESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball saw their first win over Boise State since 2022 and the first win in Fresno since 2021. Bulldogs' defeated the Broncos on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center, 68-62.

It was back-to-back thirty point games for Mia Jacobs and 11 double-doubles on the season. Maria Konstantinidou matched her career-high 11 points for the third time this season.

How it happened

Broncos opened with a 5-0 run before Maria Konstantinidou popped in a second chance layup. Fresno State held Boise State from the basket for just under five minutes and forced the Broncos to four turnovers in that time. Both teams missed their last seven field goals during the scoring drought. Kylee Fox and Jacobs hit a 4-0 run. Broncos Pasco hit a jumper in the final second to tie it up after ten, 12-12.

Bulldogs let the Broncos off with four points before going on a 6-0 run. Danae Powell knocks down a triple to give the Bulldogs a four point lead with five minutes to go, 23-19. Jacobs hit double-digits off a steal by Rayna Williams. Mariah Elohim came to play, dropping in a deep three. Big and-1 play off of a second chance layup in the paint pushed in by Holly Griffiths. A 5-3 run favoring the Broncos closed out the first half with the Bulldogs in the lead, 31-27.

Boise started the second half on a 6-0 run to match the Bulldogs, 34-34. It was short lived on the 'Dogs longest scoring run of the night, 10-0. Jacobs put up two from the charity stripe, Elohim and Fox landed in shots from downtown and Jacobs closed with a jumper in the paint. Fresno State made the most of the next four minutes with a 14-2 run and connecting on the last five of six field goals.

Fresno State was up by four with less than three minutes to go. Fox dropped in a quick pass to Konstantinidou for a jumper. 'Dogs took two trips to the charity line in the final minute for an additional three points. It was an even 8-8 in the final minutes. Boise's Pasco jumper shot was good but not enough to break the Bulldogs lead, 68-62.
