COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Fresno State's Elijah Price was named Mountain West Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. Price averaged 11.0 points and 11.0 rebounds last week, helping the Bulldogs to a pair of wins.
Against Prairie View A&M, Price recorded the first double-double of his career with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Both totals were season highs for the redshirt freshman as he aided in the Bulldogs' dominant showing on the interior.
On Saturday, in his hometown of Long Beach, Calif., Price was part of the 26th-largest comeback with five minutes to play in Division I history. Trailing by as much as 17 in the second half, and by 11 with two-and-a-half minutes to go, Fresno State finished the game on a 14-0 run to win 72-69.
Price finished with six points and nine rebounds. Five of his rebounds came on the offensive end including his final one off a missed free throw that led to a four-point possession and pulled the Bulldogs within two in the final minute.
Price is the first Bulldog to earn MW Freshman of the Week honors since the conference began the weekly award for the 2021-22 season. He is the first Fresno State player to earn a weekly award from the conference since Orlando Robinson on Jan. 17, 2022.
