'Dogs announce four to program on signing day

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State water polo head coach Natalie Benson announced four new Bulldogs to the program with National Signing Day on Wednesday. The Bulldogs received signed National Letters of Intent from Katelyn Mobley, Charlotte Munoz, Charley Stephens and Riaan Bryant.

Of the four additions, two are from California and two are international student-athletes.

"All of these new 'Dogs will help us continue our success as we transition some of our most decorated athletes," said Benson on Wednesday's signing class. "They are all up for the challenge of continuing the strong legacy that has been built by the women who came before. It's an exciting time for our program as we welcome our newest Bulldogs."

Mobley is a goalkeeper out of Carlsbad, California and Carlsbad High School in Southern California. She helped her team to a 2024 league championship title.

"She has been on our radar for a while. She is smart, communicative, athletic and mobile, and will add a dynamic flair for us in the goal," Benson said about Mobley.

Munoz, who goes by nickname Charli, is an attacker from Pasadena, California and Notre Dame High School. Munoz is expected to make an impact for the 'Dogs in several phases of the game as Benson says, "Charli is an exciting and creative attacker who has a strong defensive presence. Her water polo IQ is high, and she is going to help us on both ends of the pool."

The Bulldogs added two international student-athletes in Stephens and Bryant.

Stephens is from Sydney, Australia and was a member of the Australian Youth National Team this year, representing her country at the Youth World Championships in China this past summer. Australia finished fifth with Stephens being the player of the game for her team in a win over Israel.

"Charley will be a physical and dynamic attacker for us, as she has tremendous skills on the perimeter as well as in a post-up movement game," said Benson on the Australian addition.

Bryant comes to The Valley from Auckland, New Zealand. She is another player who represented her country at the Youth World Championships this past summer. Benson says of Bryant, "Riaan has great offensive swagger that includes an eye for the goal as well as the ability to work the transition and see opportunities to hit a teammate on an assist."
