LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State volleyball team dropped its second straight match in a 3-1 loss to UNLV at Cox Pavilion on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State came out strong, winning the first set 25-23. The Bulldogs built momentum with a service ace by Kasey Purry, bringing the score to 4-2. A kill by Jenna Legault and an error by UNLV brought Fresno State to a slight edge. The Bulldogs maintained control with solid serves and digs, allowing them to capitalize on UNLV's missteps, closing out the set with an effective offensive push led by Addison Haluska.
In the second set, Fresno State started with a strong 5-0 run led by Brooke Cowie's serve, including an ace, and two kills by Purry. However, UNLV responded with consistent attacks, tying the set at 13-13. The Bulldogs struggled with a series of errors late in the set, allowing UNLV to edge ahead and win 25-21.
The Rebels gained an early lead in the third set. Fresno State tried to close the gap, led by Haluska, but they couldn't overcome UNLV's blocking and serving, falling 20-25.
UNLV maintained its momentum in the final set. Despite Fresno's efforts, led by Ella Rud's attacks, The Rebels' strong defense held firm, and UNLV clinched the match with a 25-18 victory.
NOTES:
Addison Haluska led the charge for the Bulldogs with 17 kills.
Ella Rud earned another double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.
