'Dogs sweep Air Force on the road

USAFA, Colo. – The Fresno State volleyball team completed its second sweep of the season with a dominant 3-0 win over the Air Force Falcons on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fresno State came out strong, establishing an early lead at 4-1, powered by a combination of attack errors from Air Force and a service ace by Kasey Purry. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on with a 6-2 run to push the score to 10-2. Air Force fought back, narrowing the gap to 16-11 with a series of well-placed kills, but Fresno State held on. Brooke Cowie played a pivotal role, delivering precise sets to Ella Rud and Addison Haluska, helping Fresno State maintain the lead and close out the set 25-22.

Air Force started stronger in the second set, staying neck-and-neck with Fresno State early on. However, the Bulldogs gained momentum with a 5-0 scoring burst, sparked by a service ace from Dionii Fraga and back-to-back kills from Mya Sellers. Air Force struggled to respond, as Fresno State's balanced offense, led by Rud and Purry, pushed the lead to 22-16. Though Air Force tried to mount a comeback, Fresno State's consistent attack allowed them to finish the set at 25-20.

The third set was a back-and-forth battle with multiple ties early on. At 17-16, Fresno State created separation with a 3-0 run, starting with a kill from Haluska, followed by a service ace from Brooke Cowie. The Bulldogs capitalized on Air Force's errors to extend the lead to 21-16. Despite a late push by Air Force, Rud's offensive output and a block by Purry sealed the match for Fresno State, 25-21, completing the sweep.
