Bulldogs remain undefeated with 12-8 win at UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. - The No. 8 Fresno State equestrian team defeated UC Davis 12-8 on Saturday afternoon, moving to 3-0 on the season with all three wins coming away from home. Fresno State starts the season with three straight wins for the first time since the shortened 2021 season, and just the second time in program history.

Fresno State earned two Most Outstanding Performer honors on the day by freshman Paris Mahoney in the fences and Abby Goddard in the horsemanship.

How it happened

The Bulldogs competed in the horsemanship and fences to start the day. Fresno State was dominant in the horsemanship, outscoring UC Davis 4-1 in the event. Fresno State earned points by Goddard, Kendra Lee, Audrey Gerdes and Ella Storch. Goddard earned her MOP with a 76-74 ride in the opening matchup.

In the fences, UC Davis took the event 3-2. Molly Stewart and Mahoney earned the two points. Stewart scored a 78 to her opponent's 77. Mahoney earned her second fences MOP of the season with a 87-82 showing, remaining undefeated in the event this season.

Fresno State led 6-4 at the end of the first half.

The teams went 3-2 in the flat and reining, with Fresno State leading in both. In the reining, Fresno State earned points from Adrianna Runzo, Alison Heupel and Brogan Hill. Shelby Robinette had the highest score for the Bulldogs with a 74.5, but was outscored with an Aggie rider and a 75.5.

Yasmin Roman, Sage Lindvall and Paris Mahoney earned the flat points on Saturday. Roman scored the highest with an 83. Mahoney moves to 3-0 on the season in the flat
