FRESNO, Calif. - Despite attempting its second-most shots in a match in the last five seasons, Fresno State was held to a 1-1 draw with UNLV on Thursday night at Bulldog Soccer Stadium. It was the Bulldogs' second straight draw on its home pitch.
Fresno State piled up 19 shot attempts while holding the Rebels to just four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State came out peppering UNLV's goal but none of the Bulldogs' attempts forced a save from Hanne Breur.
After allowing pressure for nearly 20 minutes, the Rebels broke the deadlock with their first shot of the night. Trinity Buchanan broke through the defense and found Mallie Ramirez on a counter attack to put the visitors up 1-0.
The Bulldogs continued to push but its last attempt of the half from Averee Campos produced a diving stop from Breur.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, Campos again came up with a big opportunity for the 'Dogs but her attempt clipped the top of the crossbar.
Following a Rebel foul 25 yards out from goal in the 74th minute, the Bulldogs finally found the back of the net. Laura Mas chipped the free kick into the box where it dropped to Kaelyn Miller. The senior settled and slotted the shot inside the right post.
Fresno State continued to throw numbers forward late looking for a winner but it didn't come as the match ended in a draw.
