COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State's Sam Paepen was named Mountain Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. This came after the midfielder scored the equalizer in the Bulldogs' come-from-behind win against CSU Bakersfield on Sunday night.
Critical to Fresno State's midfield, Paepen left the game for 10 minutes just after the 70-minute mark with an injury after a collision with the 'Dogs trailing 1-0. Just over three minutes after returning, Paepen drilled a loose ball inside the right post, knotting the match up at 1-1 with less than four minutes remaining. The Bulldogs went on to score again in the 89th minute to complete their second comeback win of the season.
The freshman finished with three shots, putting two on target while playing 78 minutes.
