Notes on the Fresno State representatives:
Jeff Tedford, Fresno State head coach
Tedford is in his third year back as head coach at his alma mater. He first returned as head coach from 2017-19.
Tedford has coached the Bulldogs to a 44-22 record in four seasons as head coach.
In five seasons as head coach, Tedford has led Fresno State to three West Division titles, two Mountain West championships, four Bowl Game victories, two Top 25 finishes and three 10-win seasons.
In 2022, Tedford led Fresno State to a 10-4 season after starting 1-4. Fresno State became the first school in FBS history to begin a season with a 1-4 record and finish with 10 wins.
Tedford also made FBS history as Fresno State became the first team to secure back-to-back double-digit winning seasons (2017, 2018) following a double-digit loss season (2016).
Devo Bridges, Fresno State senior defensive lineman
Bridges returns for his sixth year at Fresno State. He was a second team All-Mountain West selection a season ago, his first year with all-conference recognitions.
The senior from Rialto, Calif. returns as third on the team with 28 career starts and fifth with 41 games played.
In 2023, Bridges started all 13 games for the Bulldogs. He led the defensive line with a single season career-best 51 tackles. He added 8.0 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, one interception, eight quarterback hurries and one pass breakup on the year.
Became the second Bulldog defensive lineman since 2018 to grab an interception.
Was a defensive game captain in eight games last season.
Malik Sherrod, Fresno State senior running back
Sherrod returns as a fifth-year running back for the Bulldogs, being with the program since 2020.
Sherrod has waited his turn, learning from two of the program's top running backs in its program's history in Ronnie Rivers and Jordan Mims since his arrival to campus. With the graduation of Rivers in 2021 and Mims in 2022, Sherrod took 2023 and ran with every opportunity he was given.
In 2023 and his first year in the starting job, Sherrod ran for a single season career-best 966 yards on 172 carries. He scored nine rushing touchdowns on the year. He also added 44 receptions for 260 yards and an additional touchdown a season ago.
Sherrod also added eight kickoff returns for 236 yards and one touchdown last season.
He had the program's first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2008 with a 95-yard return against Boise State (Nov. 4).
On Nov. 23 at San Diego State, Sherrod set the program record for most all-purpose yards in a game with 312 (138 rushing, 179 receiving, and 130 kickoff).
