FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team fell 13-8 to the Cal Poly Mustangs on Tuesday night at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustang offense started early with a solo home run to get them on the board in the first and two more home runs in the next inning to give them a 4-0 lead.
Fresno State had a five-run second inning with hits from Tyler Davis and Michael McKernan to give the Bulldogs a one-run lead.
Cal Poly hit their fourth home run of the night in the third inning to score three runs. Murf Gray responded with a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the inning.
The Mustangs added a run in the fourth with an RBI double. Rocco Peppi drove in Eddie Saldivar and McKernan in the fifth to make it an 8-7 game in favor of Cal Poly.
In addition to a pair of RBI singles, two more home runs were hit in the next three innings for Cal Poly.
Tyler Davis cut the Bulldog deficit to five runs with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, but the Bulldogs fell 13-8 to the Mustangs.
NOTES
This is Fresno State's 15th multiple-home run game.
The Bulldogs and Mustangs split the season with a win each.
