COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State's Ryan Firpo was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for tournaments played April 11-14, announced by the conference on Thursday.
Firpo led the Bulldogs through the El Macero Classic, placing 13th in the field of 104 individuals. The freshman carded a 5-over 221 at the Par 72, 7,127-yard El Macero Country Club.
The Davis, Calif. native was the low Bulldog in the opening round, shooting a 2-over 75. Firpo had a one-stroke improvement in the second round with a 73. He finished the tournament scoring a 74 in the third round. Firpo's 5-over 221 was his third-best score of the spring.
This is Firpo's first MW weekly honor of his career.
