FRESNO, Calif. – The 2024 MLB season is officially underway, and the Bulldogs are being represented in strong numbers throughout the league.
Five former Diamond 'Dogs are starting the season on MLB rosters: Aaron Judge (New York Yankees), Jimmy Lambert (Chicago Cubs), Dylan Lee (Atlanta Braves), Taylor Ward (Los Angeles Angels) and Justin Wilson (Cincinnati Reds).
Fresno State alumni are sprinkled throughout the league in coaching roles as well. Bulldog Legend Tom Goodwin is starting a new role as first base coach for the Braves, Ben Fritz serves as the Padres bullpen coach and Brant Brown as the Mariners' bench coach.
In addition, Josh Labandeira is using his expertise as a scout for the Boston Red Sox and Dan Gladden is the color analyst for the Treasure Island Baseball Network, the official radio station of the Minnesota Twins.
Several former Bulldogs are working their way through the minor league system with Austin Wynns (Louisville Bats), Ryan Jensen (St. Paul Saints), Zach Morgan (Sacramento Rivercats) and Ricky Tyler Thomas (Salt Lake Bees) all landing spots on Triple-A rosters.
Other alums Carter Bins, EJ Andrews, Jaime Arias, JT Arruda, Ryan Higgins, Jamison Hill and Andrew Kachel are still awaiting assignments from their organizations.
