'Dogs drop Saturday showdown to Titans

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dropped game two of the series against Cal State Fullerton, 5-4 on Saturday night at Goodwin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bulldogs scored first on Tyler Davis's first RBI of the season, scoring Lee Trevino in his first start as a 'Dog.

The Titans had an electric fourth inning with three runs scored to take the lead. Fullerton scored two more runs in the fifth off of an RBI triple and RBI single.

Fresno State started to rally in the sixth inning as Eddie Saldivar tripled to right field and sent Ben Newton home. Murf Gray singled through the right side and Saldivar scored, but the rally fell short and the Bulldogs took a 5-4 loss to the Titans.

NOTES

Murf Gray, Lee Trevino, and Grady Morgan all hit doubles while Eddie Saldivar knocked a triple in game two of the series.

Starting pitcher Noah Beal and Jake Riding combined for six strikeouts and only four walks.

The Bulldogs will wrap up the series against the Cal State Fullerton Titans on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. PT at Goodwin Field.
