FRESNO, Calif. — Coming off a 19-point win over Morgan State to open the 2023 Cancun Challenge on Wednesday night at the the Save Mart Center, the Bulldogs are set to play the remaining two games of the tournament this week in Mexico.

The trip begins with New Mexico State on Tuesday night at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. Tipoff on CBS Sports Network is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT. The Bulldogs will face either James Madison or Southern Illinois on Wednesday with the time and opponent to be determined by Tuesday's results.

QUICK LOOK

The trip will be Fresno State's second of more than 4,000 miles in the first three weeks of the season after traveling to Ohio to play Kent State on Nov. 11.

With seven newcomers to the squad, that group has stepped in quickly to help complement the returners in the scoring column. Newcomers have accounted for 51.9 percent of the scoring thus far.

Wyoming transfer Xavier DuSell has been a big part of that as the guard has poured in 47 points (15.7 ppg), hitting double figures in his first three games in a Bulldog uniform.

Last time out, fifth-year senior point guard Isaiah Hill scored his 1,000th point as a Bulldog. In double figures scoring in each game, Hill also ranks third in the MW in assists at 7.3 per contest.

Hill continues to move up the Bulldog record book through the opening week of play, moving to No. 37 in scoring and No. 9 in assists.

Donavan Yap Jr. recorded Fresno State's first 20-point game of the season, scoring a career-high 23 against Morgan State.

HILL IN THE RECORD BOOK

Isaiah Hill, who started his collegiate career at Tulsa, moved into the Top 50 of Fresno State's all-time scoring list last season and is the 47th men's basketball player to score at least 900 points as a Bulldog.

Hill entered the 2023-24 season ranked 44th all-time in program history with 962 career points at Fresno State. He has quickly continued to move up the list, checking in at No. 35 after three games.

FLOOR GENERAL

Through three games, Isaiah Hill has dished out 22 assists. His eight assists in the season opener against Fresno Pacific were tied for the second-most in a game in his Bulldog career.

In his last six games, Hill has recorded 44 assists with six being his lowest single-game output.

Hill has 17 games at Fresno State with at least six assists.

In 91 games as a Bulldog, Hill ranks ninth in career assists, moving up two spots this season.

3 AND D

Shoot from outside and defend. That's what Wyoming transfer Xavier DuSell has brought to Fresno State so far.

With 10 made 3-pointers through three games, DuSell is already above the 2.0 per game he made in his 86 games at Wyoming. To complement the offense, he has a team-best seven steals on the defensive end.

DuSell ranks No. 2 in the Mountain West in made 3's per game (3.33) and No. 1 in steals per game (2.33).

CAREER NIGHT

Last week against Morgan State, Donavan Yap Jr. had a night to remember. The senior poured in 23 points to lead the 'Dogs to a 19-point win. It was the first 20-point performance of his career.
