FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State tennis program is set to compete in the Jack Kramer Invitational this Friday-Sunday for their final fall tournament hosted by ITA Tennis in Rolling Hills Estates, CA.
'Dogs will see a smaller pool of competition at this invitational with only 23 players competing in the main draw singles and 22 doubles pairs. With only four institutions competing this weekend, Loyola Marymount University, Cal State Fullerton, University of Arizona and Cal Poly.
The lineup for the weekend's tournament features Matilde Magrini, Misaki Kobayashi, Gianna Mastro, Hannah Pieper and Mariya Vyshkina. Fresno State will be featured in the main draw for singles and doubles. Two players received a bye in the main draw singles, Kobayashi and Mastro will have their first singles match in the round of 16 on Friday afternoon.
Kobayashi will see her second bye of the tournament in the main draw doubles. Magrini and Kobayashi will play in the quarterfinals against the University of Arizona on Saturday afternoon.
The 'Dogs are back at the Jack Kramer Invitational since their last visit in 2021. The last time, Matilde Magrini won the singles open exhibition match against Oregon and for doubles Mariya Vyshkina & Carolina Piferi qualified to the quarterfinals, then was defeated by Cal Poly.
