'Dogs set for MPSF Open water championship in Long Beach

FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State swim team is heading down south to the open water this Saturday to compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Open Water Championship at Marine Stadium in Long Beach, CA.

THE OPEN WATER

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation has invited five conference institutions to the championship; Mountain West, Pac-12, Big West, West Coast, Western Athletic and all other current institutions of the MPSF.

In the water the Bulldogs will see swimmers from Cal Baptist, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, UC Santa Barbara, University of Nevada, University of Pacific, Utah and Whittier College.

The 'Dogs will see a field of 48 swimmers in the women's 5k and 15 relays in the women's 2k relay.

FIRST TIMERS

Five Bulldogs will be competing in their first ever individual open water competition this Saturday. Madison Caserio, Sera Hanagan, Abigail RousseauSamantha Arredondo and Ava Elliottwill be competing in the Women's 5k.

Four other Bulldogs, (Cheyanne Summers, Marija Rutkauskaite, Riley Baldwin and Samarah Melia) will join in and compete in the Women's 2k relay, where each swimmer will swim 500 meters of the course.
