FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno State will make its first Mountain West road trip this week, traveling to Nevada to face the Wolf Pack on Thursday evening and the Rebels on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs are 0-1-1 in conference play after starting with teams predicted to finish second (San Diego State) and third (New Mexico).

CONFERENCE PLAY

Until last season, Fresno State has won at least five matches in MW play dating back to 2016. Four of those five seasons resulted in a trip to the Mountain West tournament.

In two of those seasons, the Bulldogs had a point or less after the first week of conference play.

NOT TOO MANY MILES USED SO FAR

With the season nearing October, Fresno State will venture outside the Central Valley for just the second time this season. The Bulldogs only matches outside their region this year has been a trip to Riverside.

The 'Dogs will have trips to Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Colorado during conference play.

Fresno State played seven of its first nine matches within the Central Valley, something the 'Dogs have done just once in their history (2000).

BLANKED

Splitting time during most of her career, Valentina Vivas has played the full 90 in three matches in her final season. On Sunday against New Mexico, the Bogota native kept the Lobos off the board while facing 14 shots and producing four saves. The result was the second solo shutout of her career, and first since 2019.

It was just the second time since 2016, and the third time in the 14-match history that Fresno State has held New Mexico scoreless.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE NUMBER 24

Fresno State has twice played to scoreless draws this season. Both matches were played on the 24th of the month.

The first came on Aug. 24 against UCSB, and the second was on Sept. 24 versus New Mexico. Fresno State will not play a match on Oct. 24.

Both matches that Fresno State has recorded a shutout this season have resulted in a scoreless draw.

SETTING UP AT THE STICK

Like a season ago, Fresno State again ranks as one of the top teams in the Mountain West in earning corner kicks. The Bulldogs currently rank second in the league, earning 6.00 per match.

THE FIRST 45

In six of their 10 games, the Bulldogs have either led or have been tied at the half. The result has been positive in four of those matches with the 'Dogs going 1-1-4.
