QUICK LOOK

For the first time this season, Fresno State is ranked in the Top 25. The Bulldogs check in at No. 25 in the Week 5 AP Poll, its earliest ranking in a season since 2021.

With its 53-10 win against Kent State last weekend, Fresno State has tied its program's second-longest winning streak at 13-straight games. The Bulldogs won the final nine games of the 2022 season, and the first four of 2023 to keep this streak alive. It is Fresno State's longest streak since the 'Dogs had 17-straight wins 1988-89.

The Bulldogs carry the second-longest active winning streak in the FBS, behind only No. 1 Georgia at 21 games.

Yes, Fresno State has won 13 games in a row but the 2023 team has only won four. For the first time since 2013, Fresno State has started its season 4-0. Now in its 102nd season of football at Fresno State, the program has seen 18 4-0 starts to a season.

Fresno State opens Mountain West play on Saturday. Since joining the conference in 2012, the Bulldogs are 6-5 in their MW openers. The 'Dogs have only won one of their last four conference openers (2021).

WR Erik Brooks is the first Bulldog receiver since at least 2000 to have over 400 yards receiving in the first four games of the season. He has a team-leading 448. Brooks is 9th in the FBS in receiving yards, and 5th in receiving yards per game.

Brooks has been the hot target on the year, but last weekend it was Jalen Moss who Mikey Keene had the fiery connection with on the field. Moss had a career-high night with seven catches for 120 yards and a touchdown, becoming the first Bulldog freshman or redshirt freshman to have a 100-yard receiving game since Davante Adams in 2012.

CB Carlton Johnson is tied for the lead in the FBS with three interceptions this season, with his all coming in one game.

DE Kemari Munier-Bailey is second in the FBS in fumbles recovered this season (2).

ABOUT THE MATCHUP

Saturday's game is Fresno State's Mountain West opener.

Fresno State and Nevada will meet for the 55th time on Saturday. Fresno State owns the all-time series advantage against the Wolf Pack, 31-22-1.

Fresno State has won the last two meetings (2021, 2022) with the Pack.

The two teams have met 23 straight seasons as conference rivals, with the 'Dogs holding a 14-9 record in those contests. When the two began sharing affiliation in the WAC in 2000, the Bulldogs owned a 7-5 mark (2000-11), and since moving to the Mountain West in 2012, the Bulldogs own a 7-4 advantage.

Fresno State last defeated Nevada 41-14 on the road (Nov. 19, 2022) to clinch the West Division title and secure its spot in the MW Championship game.

Saturday's contest is the first time the teams will meet with either team being ranked in the AP Top 25 since Nov. 2, 2013. Fresno State was No. 16 in the AP Poll that week.

Saturday is Bulldog Fiesta night at Valley Children's Stadium in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
