FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's golf team will head to Colorado for the 2023 Colonel Wolenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State Sept. 25-26. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,468-yard Ptarmigan Country Club.

The Bulldogs' line up will feature Sophia Yi-Ju Chen, Jinyu Wu, Katelyn Lehigh, Katelyn Harris and Amelia Garibaldi.

The event will begin on Monday with an 8 a.m. PT shotgun start.

THE SCHEDULE

Monday – 36 holes, 8 a.m. PT shotgun start

Tuesday – 18 holes, 8 a.m. PT shotgun start

THE FIELD

Fresno State will face an 11-team field including host Colorado State, Bowling Green, CSU Fullerton, Cal Poly, Colorado, Hawai'i, LaSalle, Long Beach State, Southern Miss and Wyoming.

Playing in threesomes, the golfers will play 36 holes in a shotgun start on Monday. Pairings for Tuesday's tee times for the final 18 holes, will be determined by team score. Tuesday will again be a shotgun start. The low four individual scores will determine the team scores for each round.

LAST TIME OUT

Fresno State is coming off a 10th place finish at the Golf and Leadership Invitational, carding a 32-over 896.

Freshman Sophia Yi-Ju Chen led Fresno State through the third round with an even par 72. Chen's score was the lowest total by a Bulldog during the tournament. Through three rounds, she posted a team-best total 4-over 220 to tie for 27th in the 108-woman field. Her 36-hole score was two strokes better than she opened her collegiate career with last week.

Junior Jinyu Wu was second on the team totaling an 8-over 224.

HOT START

At the first tournament of the season, Fresno State recorded a new program low two-round total of 15-under par 561 at the Timpanogos Collegiate Classic in Provo.

The Bulldogs tied the program record for the lowest score in a 54-hole tournament with a 12-under par 852.

Sophomore Katelyn Lehigh captured the 19th medalist honor in program history, winning the Timpangos Collegiate Invitational. Lehigh set a new program record for the lowest three-round total, carding an overall score of 15-under par 201.

Transfer Jinyu Wu recorded a seventh-place finish in her first tournament as a Bulldog, scoring a 73 on day three for a 7-under 209 total. Wu's score tied the program's fifth-lowest three-round total.

NEW KIDS ON THE COURSE

Fresno State only returned two players from last season, adding six newcomers.

The Bulldogs added three transfers to the roster in Jiye Ham (Washington State), Jinyu Wu (Washington State) and Meredith McDougal (Westmont College). Along with three freshmen in Amelia Garibaldi, Sophia Yi-Ju Chen and Vunnisa Vu.
