ST. GEORGE, UTAH – The Fresno State volleyball team defeated the Utah Tech Trailblazers for the second time this weekend with its second 3-2 victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs and the Trailblazers stayed evenly matched throughout the first set, but the Dogs were not able to reclaim the lead after the Blazers went on a 7-1 run and eventually won the set 25-18. Fresno State flipped the script with a strong second set, tying the game at 7-7 and keeping control of the lead before claiming a 25-18 win. Utah Tech kept the Bulldogs at bay in the third and led by six in the heart of the set. Fresno State chipped away at the Trailblazer lead but fell 25-22. Things looked bleak for the Bulldogs in the fourth set as they found themselves in an eight-point deficit, but found new life after a 5-0 run and forced a fifth set with a 25-27 win.
The deciding set was an intense battle for the Bulldogs as the Trailblazers took an early 8-3 lead. Fresno State followed up my scoring six straight to tie the game at 9-9. Fresno State then got ahold of the lead, but Utah Tech did not let up. After a few rounds of back-to-back scores, the Bulldogs came out victorious 17-15, and 3-2 overall.
