Explosive offense leads Bulldogs to 17-6 victory

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team had an explosive 17-6 win over Saint Mary's on Thursday night at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

Fresno State snagged their 28th win of the season (28-25 overall) while Saint Mary's fell to 21-25.

NOTES:

The Bulldogs scored a season-high 17 runs and also had the highest run differential of the season (11).

This was Fresno State's second four-home run game and Tommy Hopfe's first two-homerun game of the year.

Travis Welker and Grady Morgan both led the 'Dogs at the plate as they each collected four hits in five at-bats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Tommy Hopfe started the night strong with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first.

The Bulldogs gave up a pair of runs in the top of the second, but quickly fired back with an RBI single from Nikoh Mitchell and RBI triple from Murf Gray.

Fresno State had a booming third inning with 8 runs scored from a Ben Newton triple, Travis Welker double, and home runs from Grady Morgan and Bobby Blandford.

Tommy Hopfe crushed his second home run of the night in the bottom of the eighth to solidify Fresno State's 17-6 victory over Saint Mary's.
