'Dogs unable to recover from seventh inning slump

RENO, NV – The Fresno State baseball team suffered an 8-4 loss against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Friday at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.

The Diamond 'Dogs currently sit with a 22-23 record (11-14 Mountain West) and the Wolf Pack advances to 18-25 on the season (8-13 MW).

NOTES:

Nikoh Mitchell crushed his second triple of the year to deep left center and led the Bulldogs at the plate with three hits in five at-bats.

Starting pitcher Ixan Henderson struck out seven batters in 6.1 innings pitched while only allowing three walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

An RBI single for the Wolf Pack brought in the first run of the game in the bottom of the third, but the Bulldogs responded quickly with a single from Tommy Hopfe and a sacrifice fly from Bobby Blandford to leave the game tied through four.

With three home runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Wolf Pack took an 8-1 lead over the 'Dogs.

Fresno State tacked up three more runs in the top of the eighth with hits from Travis Welker, Nikoh Mitchell and Ben Newton in hopes to bounce back, but fell short with a final score of 8-4 in favor of the Pack.
