Nieto Jasny named GCC Player of the Week

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State goalkeeper Paula Nieto Jasny has been named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week. Thursday's announcement marks her first player of the week nod this season, and the third of her career.

Nieto Jasny helped lead Fresno State to a 10-7 home win last Saturday over the preseason conference favorite, and then-undefeated, LMU. Nieto Jasny had 13 saves in the contest, her second-most of the season and the most in conference play in 2023.

Nieto Jasny also recorded two steals in the win and held LMU scoreless in the final quarter, turning a 7-7 game into a 10-7 win.

Her defensive efforts helped Fresno State to stay undefeated in conference play, and earn a share of the regular season title and its third-straight No. 1 seed at the GCC Championships.

Fresno State has now had three GCC Player of the Week honors as Nieto Jasny joins Hailey Andress (Feb. 9) and Jillian Schultz (Feb. 23) to earn the honor this season. Fresno State's three selections so far this season are the second-most among teams in the conference, behind LMU with four.

The Bulldogs compete today at No. 3 UCLA, then close out the regular season at Santa Clara on April 22. The GCC Championship is scheduled for April 28-30 in San Diego, Calif.
