FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team fell 7-2 in the final game of its weekend series against the New Mexico Lobos on Sunday afternoon at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
Bobby Blandford led Fresno State (10-8, 4-4 Mountain West) at the plate and went 2-for-3 in the series finale against New Mexico (12-7, 3-3 MW).
Roman Angelo pitched through five innings and racked up eight strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The bats were hot for the Lobos from the start as UNM scored five runs in the top of the second inning.
Fresno State answered back with two runs scored on an error in the bottom of the second but fell into a scoring drought for the remainder of the game.
New Mexico brought in two more runs to close out the game, one off a single in the seventh and a solo home run in the ninth.
After the series win, the 'Dogs advance to 4-4 in Mountain West play and 10-8 overall this season.
