BULLDOG BONES

Fresno State opened Golden Coast Conference play last weekend with a pair of wins defeating California Baptist and No. 23 San Diego State.

The Bulldogs rank No. 8 in this week's CWPA rankings.

The 'Dogs are riding a five-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 5.

The Bulldogs are 3-4 at home and host Azusa Pacific next Saturday (March 18) and Loyola Marymount on April 1 for Senior Day to close out their home slate.

Senior Brooke Ochoa leads the Bulldogs with 40 goals with freshman Hailey Andress adding 28 goals and Jillian Schultz & Daphne Guevremont each chipping in 25.

The 'Dogs are 2-2 in GCC home openers with wins in 2021 over Azusa Pacific and defeated Santa Clara in 2022.

'DOGS RANK NO. 8 IN CWPA POLL

The Bulldogs sit No. 8 in the latest CWPA rankings released on Wednesday remaining in the same position as last week.

GCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

The Bulldogs have had a pair of GCC Player of the Week honors this season with Hailey Andress earning the honor on Feb. 9 and Jillian Schultz on Feb. 23.

The 'Dogs are tied with Pacific for the most POW honors as each have nabbed two.

SCOUTING CONCORDIA

Concordia enters Saturday's contest with a 12-7 overall record.

The Golden Eagles opened GCC play at home on March 2 against Santa Clara defeating the Broncos, 11-8.

Concordia is 5-1 on the road this season with wins at California Lutheran, Chapman, Redlands, Whittier and Occidential College.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a 9-14 season in 2022 and a 2-5 mark in the GCC to finish in a tie for fifth with Azusa Pacific and Santa Clara.

Concordia has won its last six matches and won all four its matches last weekend at the Pomona Convergence Tournament defeating Occidential College, Cal State East Bay, Mount Saint Mary's and Cal State Monterey Bay.

FRESNO STATE INVITE RECAP

Fresno State went 3-0 at the Fresno State Invite on Feb. 18-19.

The 'Dogs defeated Biola, 14-8, Fresno Pacific, 17-2 and Claremont Mudd-Scripps, 16-7 to improve to 7-7 on the season.

Fresno State scored 47 goals in three matches getting a team-high 10 from Schultz and eight from Brooke Ochoa.

In goal, Paula Nieto Jasny made four saves against Biola, 10 against Fresno Pacific and the trio of Nieto Jasny, Kelly Villanueva and Abigayle Armstrong each made three saves versus Claremont Mudd-Scripps.

The Bulldogs moved to 3-4 at home on the season.

LOOK BACK AT THE TRITON INVITE

The Bulldogs opened play at the Triton Invite on Feb. 3 against No. 21 San Diego State defeating the Aztecs, 15-7 with six goals from Ochoa.

After a loss to No. 5 Hawaii, the 'Dogs defeated No. 18 UC San Diego, 10-8 with three goals from Daphne Guevremont before dropping the fifth place match to No. 7 Long Beach State, 8-7.
