'Dogs head to the Bay Area for two matches

The No. 75-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team will face Saint Mary's College women's tennis team in Moraga on Friday at 12 p.m. PT, followed by a match against San Francisco the next day.

Fresno State head coach Denise Dy is now in her third season back home in the Golden State.

The Bulldogs were ranked No. 75 in the latest ITA Top 75 Collegiate Tennis Division I Women's Team Rankings.

The Bulldogs are 40-14 overall in head coach Denise Dy's tenure at Fresno State.

Fresno State won the 2022 MW regular season championship with a perfect 10-0 record in conference play.

Fresno State also finished 2022 ranked sixth in the competitive ITA northwest region.

Fresno State enters the spring with five returners and four newcomers.

JITTAKOAT ENTERS THE SPRING SEASON STRONG

Fresno State senior Pang Jittakoat was named the Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

This is the sixth weekly Conference honor for Jittakoat.

Fresno State senior Pang Jittakoat leads the bulldogs strong through the month of February.

Jittakoat overall season statistics for the month of February has (6-1) in singles and in doubles with Matilde Magrini, (4-1).

Jittakoat continues her winning streak after the FPU win. She was the first to finish her singles match with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 sweep over Lea Falentin.

"The season has been challenging so far but also prepared us for conference matches. In addition, the win from Oregon results from the hard work and fight we put in from every practice and match."

FIRST WIN OVER ITA TOP 40 PROGRAM SINCE 2016

The No. 65-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team earned a 4-3 road win over the No. 38-ranked Oregon Ducks on Saturday at STC.

Fresno State (4-5) built a 1-0 lead by securing the doubles point with 6-2 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 position.

The Bulldogs then needed a complete team effort, which was highlighted by singles victories by Fresno State veterans Pang Jittakoat (No. 1), Cristina Flaquer (No. 3) and Carlotta Nonnis Marzano (No. 6). Flaquer clinched the match with a three-set win at the No. 3 slot.

This was Fresno State's first win over an ITA Top 40 opponent since 2016.

BULLDOGS SWEEP MOUNTAIN WEST WEEKLY HONORS

Fresno State senior Pang Jittakoat was named the Mountain West's Women's Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Mariya Vyshkina was awarded MW Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday. This is Jittakoat's fourth career MW weekly honor and the first for Vyshkina.
