FULLERTON, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team wrapped up the second day of the Judi Garman Classic on Friday. The Bulldogs fell to Cal Poly 5-1 in game one before dropping the matchup with No. 2 UCLA 8-1 in game two.
Fresno State's offense racked up eight hits against No. 2 UCLA. Keahilele Mattson and Abby Doughty both logged two hits and two RBIs on the day. Taylor Gilmore recorded six strikeouts in her outing against Cal Poly.
GAME 1
Cal Poly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Bulldogs held the Mustangs without a run for the next four innings, while chalking their first run of the game in the fourth. Kennedy Bunker got the offense going with a leadoff double, and Doughty brought her across home plate with an RBI-single.
Cal Poly tacked on two runs in the sixth to secure the victory.
GAME 2
Fresno State had a hot start against No. 2 ranked UCLA. Freshman Emma Martinez opened the game with a hard-hit double to center field. Mattson gave the 'Dogs a 1-0 lead with a single. The offense tallied three hits in the first inning.
The 'Dogs held the Bruins at bay until Maya Brady hit a three-run home run to give UCLA a 3-1 lead. The Bruins didn't look back, scoring an additional five runs through the next three innings. UCLA would take the win 8-1.

Fresno State will finish the tournament tomorrow at 10 a.m., taking on Seattle.
