2023 MW football schedule released

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West announced the 2023 conference schedule on Thursday as the league begins its first season without divisions since 2012 (not including the 2020 season, impacted by COVID-19).

The 2023 schedule is highlighted by six home dates with the home opener being against Eastern Washington on Sept. 9. Fresno State will host Kent State on Sept. 23 in its final nonconference matchup of the season, and open Mountain West play at home against Nevada on Sept. 30. The remaining home dates are against UNLV (Oct. 28), Boise State (Nov. 4) and New Mexico (Nov. 18).

Today's announcement represents the first phase in the 2023 football schedule release process. Fresno State learned its order of conference opponents, but dates are still subject to change as the Mountain West's national television partners (CBS Sports and FOX Sports) will now initiate a selection procedure which will include the shifting of particular games to non-Saturday dates. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and kick times.

2023 season tickets are open for renewals and deposits now.

Fresno State was already aware of its nonconference opponents prior to Thursday's announcement. The Bulldogs open the 2023 season on the road for a Big Ten matchup at Purdue on Sept. 2. The nonconference schedule continues as the 'Dogs host Eastern Washington in the home opener, then travel to Pac-12 territory to face Arizona State in Tempe on Sept. 16.

The Bulldogs will wrap up the nonconference slate of opponents at home against Kent State on Sept. 23.

Fresno State opens Mountain West play at home the following week against Nevada on Sept. 30. The Bulldogs will be away from home for three weeks with a trip to Wyoming (Oct. 7) and Utah State (Oct. 14) before a bye week in Week 8.

On Oct. 28, Fresno State returns home to host UNLV. Fresno State will host Boise State in a battle for the Milk Can at Valley Children's Stadium on Nov. 4. The Bulldogs will not leave the state of California for the last five weeks of the regular season.

Fresno State travels north to San Jose State on Nov. 11 and has its final regular season home game against New Mexico on Nov. 18. The 'Dogs close out the 2023 conference schedule at San Diego State on Nov. 25.

The 2023 schedule will play out over 14 weeks, concluding on Saturday, Dec. 2, with the Mountain West Football Championship Game featuring the two teams with the highest Conference winning percentage.
