Tuck earns MOP in tough meeting with No. 2 TCU

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 9 Fresno State equestrian team fell 15-4 to the No. 2 ranked TCU on Friday afternoon at the Student Horse Center.

Fresno State junior Sara Tuck continued to shine for the Bulldogs, earning her third flat MOP in as many rides on Friday. Tuck secured the MOP honors with a season-high 90 to defeat her TCU opponent's score of 80 in the flat.

How it happened

TCU earned its fifth-straight sweep in the horsemanship, continuing its winning ways in the event with a 5-0 win in the opening event. Kendra Lee had the highest score for the Bulldogs, tying her season-high score with a 74.5.

The Bulldogs scored their most points of the day in the fences, earning two points in the event. Senior Ana Bertozzi won her fifth-straight fences point with an 81-76 showing for the Bulldogs' first point. Junior Olivia Ferro won the second point on a 78-68 ride.

At the break, No. 2 TCU led the Bulldogs 8-2.

The 'Dogs would win just two points in the second half, one in each event, with a tie by Shelby Robinette in the reining. Tuck won her MOP with a season-high 90, outscoring all flat riders by at least seven points. Redshirt freshman Brogan Hill won the point for the Bulldogs in the reining with a 70.5-64 showing. Robinette tied in her ride with a 71.5, the highest score by any other rider in the meet.

Notable

Sara Tuck won her third flat MOP of the season, a team-high. She now has five in her career, a mark that leads all Bulldogs on the current roster.

With her win in the flat today, Tuck now ties for the team-high with four wins on the year.

Ana Bertozzi improves to 7-2 in the fences, leading the Bulldogs in the event.

Fresno State suffered its first loss of the spring season.

The Bulldogs fall to 1-4 in their Big 12 meets this season, and 2-7 overall.
