COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State junior left-handed pitcher Ixan Henderson was tabbed to the 2023 Preseason All-Mountain West team and the Diamond 'Dogs were picked to finish fourth in the 2023 Mountain West preseason coaches poll, the conference announced on Thursday.
A first-team All-Mountain West selection last spring, Henderson made 14 starts on the season leading the Mountain West with 98 strikeouts. The Clovis West graduate led the team and ranked fourth in the MW with seven wins while his 78.2 innings pitched ranked third in the conference.
Henderson earned three Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors and he threw over six innings in seven games striking out a season-high 12 against UC Riverside while hitting 11 in two other contests.
As a team, Fresno State was predicted to finish fourth tallying 24 points overall with one first-place vote.
UNLV, who won the Mountain West regular season title last season, was selected to win the conference garnering four first-place votes and 33 points while San Jose State picked up two first-place votes and had 27 points.
San Diego State checks in third followed by Air Force in fifth, Nevada in sixth and New Mexico in seventh. All selections were based on votes by MW coaches and coaches could not vote on their own team or players.
Fresno State returns 18 student-athletes from its 2022 roster and welcomes 18 newcomers with seven transfers and 11 freshmen this season.
The Bulldogs open the season on Feb. 17 taking on Michigan at the MLB Desert Invitational in Mesa, Ariz. Season tickets for the 2023 season are available here and single-game tickets can be found here.
